Had you told me three years ago that my business wouldn't come to fruition until there was a global pandemic, I may have been suspicious. A global pandemic? Starting a business during one? But yet, here I am. While I am certain we can all agree that 2020 has not been a kind one in many ways, the 2020 chapter is on its last pages. It is up to us to take these last few weeks and make them count. For me, I am focusing on the things that made me feel good, and I am choosing to end the year with those things as the nuggets I take in to 2021. I challenge you, my friend, to try it too. Maybe you got a chance to hone in on your baking skills (sourdough, anyone?!), or your dream of being on American Ninja (me!) made you work on those pull-ups, or you just had a chance to SLOW DOWN AND JUST BE PRESENT. How did you feel, even for a fleeting moment, doing these things?
It is very easy to fall into feelings and thoughts of uneasiness, anxiety and distress, especially with the state of the world right now. And guess what? It is ok to not be ok! Observe it and don't judge it. Be kind to yourself, and pass that kindness on to others. We are all on different wavelengths of emotions, you never know who could use that kindness right about now.
A beautiful friend sent me a note three years ago when I initially wanted to start my own business. I have carried it in my wallet since and often pull it out when I need some reassurance. It feels like the perfect reassurance we all need as we close out 2020.
"For a seed to achieve its greatest expression it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth it looks like complete destruction."
